I can not find it. It would help if I could remember when this happened.

One word: Gimmick!

You're better off going with a proven brand and load and being able to shoot it fairly regularly.

Don't knock HydraShocks. I'm carrying the old style Hi-shocks that come in the bluish-silver box.

I carry them because they are easy on the wallet and up until recently available locally. Once I rotate out what's left of my stock, I'll be carrying Federal HSTs.

Ok, Extreme Shock bad for normal people who don't need a fragmentation round.

However, they produce an ENHANCED PENETRATION round that looks interesting. This would be where police could benefit from breaching barriers. Just because they started off with a gimmick, doens't mean they can't produce something worth while. Afterall, something has kept them in business...if nobody was buying and kept buying, they would have gone under a year ago.

In this months issue of GUNS, Ayoob praises the Extreme Shock for it's superior acuracy in the new Walther PPS 9mm. If you were an air marshall, these rounds might serve a good purpose.

If I can get somemore ballistic geletin, I'd be happy to place the Enhanced Penetration round against the other 'usual' JHP we all carry.

Does Extreme Shock have ads in the magazine? . . . I'm just saying. It's bad business to knock your advertisers.

+1

I'll take the work of a terminal ballistics expert over somebody that's getting paid to praise a sponsor.

Firearms Tactical has a few negative articles on Ayoob the don't think highly of his "expert opinion".

Quote:
In June 1980, Ayoob testified, as an expert witness for complainant Christine A. Hansen, against the FBI, in an administrative hearing conducted by a Complaints Examiner for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

ONE of the items claimed, which Ayoob supported, was that the FBI issue, medium-frame Smith & Wesson revolver was inappropriate for female agents because it was designed to fit the hand of an average male. FBI lawyer John Hall cross-examined Ayoob. Hall blind-sided Ayoob with a magazine article that Ayoob recently authored, in which he recommended the K-frame Smith & Wesson revolver as the ideal weapon for women. This was the very gun Ayoob had just testified was unsuitable. Hall instructed Ayoob to read aloud from his article that contradicted his earlier expert testimony. Ayoob reluctantly complied in a subdued and hushed voice.
When people ask me about carrying guns for women, I generally recommend a small .38 Special with exotic ammo, knowing that they’ll probably wind up with wadcutters no matter what I say. I recommend something on a moderate frame for small hands. Colt’s Police Positive, revitalized two years ago and sadly being discontinued this year, is a good choice as is the Diamondback, which has a chance for survival. In the Smith line, a K-frame .38 Special should have the round butt, and be fitted with a Tyler-T grip adapter, a combination that fits many female hands, and small male hands, superbly. [Emphasis added]
-Ayoob, Massad F.: "Selecting the Woman’s Defense Gun." Guns, March 1979; pp. 8, 46-49.
Here's a firearms tactical article on Guns magazine's ammo testing.

Quote:
We’ve reviewed a couple articles recently published in GUN TESTS Magazine in which they attempted to evaluate the performance of various personal-defense handgun cartridges. Our conclusion after reading these articles is that the staff of GUN TESTS is wholly unqualified to perform meaningful and valid wound ballistics testing. They have absolutely no clue as to what they’re doing, and this is demonstrated by their lack of knowledge about wound ballistics in general, their test methodology and their interpretation of ballistic gelatin test results.

The Air Marshall's carry Glocks in .357 sig loaded with Gold Dot ammunition.

If Extreme Shock ammo was that good a lot of federal agencies would be using them, none do.

That should tell you a lot about them.

Some one is buying there ammo, mostly mall ninjas and gun shop commando's that believe the advertising.
