Does an XD with a fitted "match" grade barrel really benefit from using "match" ammo instead of "white box" ammo?

Match ammo will just give you more strict tolerances so your groups should be smaller and variances be less. This will be the case with any barrel but a match barrel fitted properly firing good ammo should produce slightly better results.
What caliber and what barrel did you get? I got a drop in 9mm barrel from Pistol Gear and so far it has functioned flawlessly. It does shoot a tighter groups and locks up tighter then the stock one when in battery. Last edited by scalce; 12-17-2007 at 08:22 PM. |

WWB has really went downhill in the last year from what I've seen. A good ammo such as Atlanta Arms, does group better that the regular off the shelf bulk stuff, as ammo accuracy comes from consistency. The more consistent the components and assembly of, the greater the potential for repeatable results when fired = accuracy.

A local bullseye shooter gave me a box of Atlanta Arms Match 9mm.
I was pretty impressed with them. |

It is used by the Army Shooting Team and Team Glock and many other top shooters. I have been using it for my match ammo and to test barrel barrels.
None of the off the shelf stuff I've used can touch it's accuracy, and it is reasonably priced too. |
