Is there a relationship between a powders burn rate (relative quickness) and recoil? Put another way, will a faster burning powder produce greater pressures and therefore increase recoil?

Actually the other way. Slower powders require more powder (which adds to total projectile wt.) to reach a given pressure & then extends the pressure longer, so felt recoil seems greater.
