Angry singing the ammo blues

I purchased a 20 round box of speer gold dot a few weeks ago at a local gun store we'll call gun store A. I chambered a round and holstered the weapon. The next day I removed the round from the chamber (keeping in mind it'd been chambered once), and noted that it had pushed over 1mm into the casing. I contacted speer/CCI a, and Linda from Speer was kind enough to assist me in getting the ammunition swapped out. The process was painless, and Linda was professional throughout the entire transaction, she sent me 50 rounds as a replacement to more than cover my shipping costs

In the interim I went to a local gun store that we'll call gun store B. They were out of most of what I usually purchase, but did have some Winchester Super-X SilverTip JHP's that looked pretty cool (and in event of werewolf attack ) or so I figured... I got home and examined every round. I noted that one of the rounds had a dented casing, and spent the next day trying to find a number for Winchester. Once I did get a hold of the ammunition department I was able to get a call tag for pickup by UPS for today or Monday, and I'll follow up with how they treat me (it's been just fine thus far). But my ammo purchasing luck has SUCKED of late.

Well, that sucks. The only factory ammo I buy is what I carry in my defensive handguns along with Mil-Spec 5.56mm ammo for my ARs as I reload for practice. I haven't come across any defective premium handgun ammo but I am sure it happens. The ammo manufactures are maxed out and when that happens, quality can go south.

Well last Tuesday the UPS people left a note on the door after I'd telecommuted Friday and Monday because that was when they were supposed to show. I got it to UPS on Tuesday, and am now awaiting followup from Winchester. (Olin)

That's not a fun experience but I'm glad to hear that the customer support folks at these two companies are attempting to help.

Well it's after christmas and I finally found the UPS tracking number which had been "cleaned" with the rest of the house... Things are looking down for the home team.

The last entry is:
EAST ALTON,
IL, US 12/20/2007 9:43 A.M. RETURNED TO SHIPPER

It appears someone named "Hill" signed for it and sent it back to me. There has been no further update from UPS.
