problems with Monarch ammo

hey guys,

I was at Academy and thought Id pick up some of the Monarch 9mm brass case ammo cause it was so cheap. Got to the range and had problem after problem with it. Probably every 5th or 6th round randomly the ejected case would get stuck in the slide opening. Its like the slide came back to fast and caught the case as it was flying out. I tried some of my CCI Blazer ammo and it didnt do this nore has any other ammo Ive shot thru my XD done this. Is Monarch just crap ammo or something? What brand is the most reliable? Thanks

sounds like the ammo is a little under powered and isnt fully cycling the slide i got an in at wally world and get 10% off so i buy the blazer brass i dont reload yet but i still pick up my brass, worse case i can always sell the brass to someone who does, or i can keep it until i finally buy a press and venture in to reloading, i do the same with my 223 and 5.56 brass.

i stocked up on 9mm before the september increase but since i dont see it going down any time soon when i got the extra cash i still pick up cases of it. im currently sitting on about 7k rounds of BB 9mm and ive started stocking up on the remington 223 as i cant beat the $30 per hundred rds OTD anywehre else.

I went thru a bunch and never had any problems with it. I bought 1000s of the 9mm back when it was under $4 per box.

I work for Academy in the hunting and fishing department. We sell alot of that monarch ammo. Its all Serbian made ammo. I will not use that stuff after my first experience with it at the range. I bought the .357 magnum rounds and first shot out the box my Smith and Wesson 681s cylinder got jammed up and took me 15 minutes to get it open. After that I didnt even want to put it in my fathers redhawk.

As I mentioned, I've used 1000s of both the steel-cased and the brass-cased with no issues. Only stopped using when WWB at WalMart and UMC at Dick's began to offer better prices.

Do you have an after market guide rod and spring?

It does sound like the rounds are underpowered. That along with a 22lb spring might cause a problem.
