Reloading XD vs Glock
I'm still kinda new to reloading, and I have been reloading for my Glock 22 and XD 40 without any problems despite the rumors about Glocks malfunctioning. I just got a new XD 45, and I'm was wondering when reloading for my XD, do I need to concern myself with the same rumors that there are with Glocks. Any information that you can give me about this would be great. Also, if there are any other problems with XD's please let me know.
Thanks,
Master Chief

I am not sure which rumors, or what rumors. Anyway, the only thing that I can come up with is that the flat profiles, such as a RNFP, may need to be seated deeper to function correctly. Just make a few of whatever bullet you choose, and try it to see if they work. I believe that the XD has a slightly shorter, or different chamber than the Glock or other .45's.

Yes lead vs plated bullets is a concern of mine, but my main concern is the same as with my glock which is, do I need to worry about the barrels on my XD's having the same rumored problems(exploading) as with Glocks?

No xd have standard rifling unlike the glocks polygonal rifling, you can shoot lead through your xds with no problem.

I have been reloading both my XD45 & my Glock .40 cal. with almost exclusively lead bullets. Zero problems with either one. I too was told that I couldn't shoot lead bullets through my Glock, because of the different rifling. HOGWASH!
A fellow Officer friend has shot close to 250,000 rounds of lead cast bullets through his Glock 9mm in the past 10 years doing competition shooting. The secret...just clean your barrel out after about 100-200 rounds, so the lead doesn't build up. When I'm at the range shooting, I take a spray cannister of cleaner & a bore-snake rope & after about 100 rounds, I lock the slide back, spray down the barrel & then pull the bore-snake through a couple of times....and Viola the barrel is mirror clean & ready for more lead bullets!!

Haven't shot any lead bullets thru my XD45, yet, primarily because the range I shoot on is indoors. However it absolutely loves the load I have using 230JHP plated from Ranier ahead of AA#5. I just might get some lead to shoot outdoors but the Raniers are so cheap I'll probably just continue with them.

I too am using the Ranier bullets but with HP39 powder. I've had a few that are jamming and not letting the slide all the way forward. We set the OAL same as factory loads. WOndered what you all were setting the OAL to on yours.
