new 9mm formula...for me

I've been using HS-6 for my 9mm loads. For practice and competition, I've been shooting 115gr FMJ (or plated) with 6.8 gr HS-6.

Today I made some 147 JHP rounds and loaded them with 3.2 gr of Titegroup. I just wanted to see what the difference was in recoil for competing. Wow, I was surprised. The rounds cycled fine with my factory recoil spring and the recoil was significantly less. I shoot Production in USPSA/IPSC matches. I'm thinking of trying this formula out to see how it works.

Anyone try competing with this before?

Damn. That's a pretty light load. I know the powder can for my titegroup says 4.8 is a max load and to drop that by 10 percent for starting loads which comes out to..........4.3ish grains for an FMJ. But that's with a 115 grain bullet also.

The online reload data center reads 3.2 grains for a starting load and 3.6 for a max load so you are right where they think you should start out with a 147gn bullet. Maybe try 3grns even and see if it still cycles.

Even though it's stated as the starting load on their website, I must admit that I think I've discovered what others commonly refer to as "bunny farts"

I reload 4.0 - 4.1 gr of Titegroup for 115 gr. bullets.

I believe the recommended starting load is 3.9 gr for 115 grain. 3.2 is the recommended starting load for 147 grain, consider kicking it up a tenth or two and see how it works, especially if you have a minor power factor to meet.

I tried some 115 gr loads too. But I used 4.5 gr of titegroup (their recommended starting load). I didn't see too much difference between it and the HS-6 loads that I've been shooting.

It looks close to the 125 power factor. I came up with 125.7 with the 3.2 gr load. BUT...I did not chrono any of the rounds. So I'll take your advice and bump it up a tenth to be safe.

Yeah, I haven't chrono'd any of my reloads yet. i don't want to shell out the money for it, and I'm hoping that a club member can chrono them for me.

3.2 of TG may push a 147 JHP just barely to power factor.

I have to use 3.3 of TG with a 147 PFN to get it to 871 fps.

Typically I load to 3.4 so it definately makes the 850/8500 power factor under different conditions.
