Stuff in my face

Greetings,

Relevant information:
.Taurus 24/7 Pro 9mm
.Mixed brass
.9mm FMJ 115 grains Zero
.4.9 grains Unique powder
.Wolf Small pistol Primers

Newbie reloader here. Yesterday I loaded 10 rounds andwnet to shoot at the range to check if they are working ok with my pistol. They worked fine. So, today I reloaded 150 rounds and went to the range with my wife. We shot about 100 rounds of my reload and 75 rounds of commercial Winchester.

We both noticed we got some stuff in the face (like one grain of sand) when we shot the reloaded ammo and not the commercial ammo (In fact, I never felt anything with the 2-3k commercial rounds I shot previously with my Taurus.). It happened 3 times to my wife and 4 times to me.

What is the issue? Did I do something wrong? Do I have to be concerned?

Thank you

How do you clean your cases? Liquid or solid media?

Just out of curiosity, what was it that you were shooting at and how far away was it?

Greetings,

It was a 8x11 paper target (Yes, I am cheap, I print my targets on letter paper and hang them at the range, moreover, I prefer to shoot 5 times on a paper, so I see where I shoot) at 40 feet away.

Thank you

Well, I was going to suggest that maybe dirt or something is coming back at you, as I've had that happen to me on more than one occasion. But then I remembered that you said it didn't happen with factory ammo. So that kind of went out the window.

You are probably getting a bit of unburned powder. Unique runs best at max. or near max. pressures. Your charge of 4.9gr is way too low. Bump it to 5.3-5.4gr for about 1125fps. I'm also unsure of your Wolf primers. They may not be providing enough spark.
