so i know AP is Anti personal, thanks to some of you edgumacaten my backwards A$$.

anyhow, are they anymore anti-personel than any bullet? is it just more penetrating power for light cover/concealment, like a car window or door?

Actually, in most circles, AP means armor piercing when it comes to small arms munitions.

thats what i'd thought but was told that AP in the case of the M855, was anti personnel. thats why im a little more than confused about it

M855 is designated as armor piercing. There is supposed to be a steel penetrator. http://www.ak-47.net/ammo/ss109.txt

Thanks for that info. Wikepedia says it has a steel penetrator, that would be AP. Since I can buy it in Kalif. I know it can't be AP. Thanks, I like being edgumacteded.

Sorry if that came off as sounding like a smart-ass, it wasn't intended that way. I was in a hurry this morning and even quoted more than I meant to

M855 is, in fact, NATO Ball Ammo loaded with SS 109 a copper jacketed, steel and lead cored, penetrator bullets designed to penetrate personnel and light materials, but not vehicles.

M995 is AP (Armor Piercing) uses a shaped tungsten core in a copper jacket designed to penetrate roughly 1/2" armor plate @ 100 meters
