357Sig
Can I use the same bullets for 357Sig that I use for 9mm? I found listings for 124gr(I shoot this in 9mm) in my load manual. I shoot Berry's plated, but not at screaming velocities. Obviously I'd need to get a conversion barrel as well. Also, anyone have any powder advice? I have on hand Power Pistol, Universal & 231.
Thanks. Mikey |

Eh, I don't know about loads for the .357 sig, but yeah, it uses the same diameter bullets as the 9mm

Yes & no. The 357sig is 9mm but needs a truncated cone shape bullet w/ a longer bearing surface for proper neck tension. Conventional 124gr, 9mm FMJ will NOT work. If you are shooting Berry's 124grFP, they work fine. Bullets that I have used w/ good results:
Berry's 124grFP & HP Ranier 124grFP Hornady 124gr & 147grXTP Speer 125grGD Sierra 125grJHC any 380 bullet will also work, as the bullet is short enough to load & still gives full neck tension. Powders that work well are those that give almost 100% density (fill to the bottom of case neck). I have used HS7, Longshot, AA#7 & BlueDot. Unique, PowerPistol & Universal are also ok for med. vel. practice loads (about 1250fps). I would shy away from fast powders like Bullseye, W231, TG, Clays, etc. If you have a bullet setback, bad things could happen w/ powders faster than Unique. Here is a link w/ some data: http://www.realguns.com/loads/357sig.htm |
