I escape this scary blow out!!

I tried to do some reloads wed and shot it today(thursday) and something really scary happened , first shot boom!!I thought hmm its too hot, next shot kaboom!!!rest of the ammo feel on my feet, i was like what the heck!!checked my hands, its all intact, felt my face, no blood, checked my 1911 , damn the grips are split into 2!!here is some pics..230gr sierra, bullseye smokeless powder, winchester primer, cci case..i'm sure its not a double load becs i only did 5rounds, its my first time loading too..its either my scale is off by a whole lot or i seated the bullet to low, i dont know, the only thing i know is i wont be reloading until i get adigital scale. And yes my RIA tactical is not harmed in any way, i did a field strip checked all the parts, put it back together and shot another 5 rounds with factory ammo, everything functioned..pics are here..

Please don't take this post as being mean or attacking in any way.

I would suggest NOT using a digital scale, especially for pistol reloading. If you cannot get an accurate/consistent charge on a beam scale, there is no way in HELL you're gonna get one on a digital!

Stop reloading and disassemble EVERYTHING you have built to date. Re-read whatever manuals you have, cover to cover. You mucked up something big time and got lucky not getting hurt or worse. Find a friend to help. ASK QUESTIONS!!!!

Hell, ask questions here too. Run what info you have by us, mistakes are sometimes obvious to another person

Believe what the manuals say, reloading really is dangerous and really can hurt or kill you.

I don't know about your 1911, but I'd still have it properly checked by a 'smith. very few guns survive a KB with no damage of some sort

Thanks charlieho and no what you said is fine ,no offense taken, i guess my question is why would a digital scale not a good idea to use??and yes i will be reading more before i do it again, i did disassemble the other 3rds that i made and I already double checked my 1911 2X and i did not see any cracks or any sign that it was damaged, i even shot it again yesterday after the ka boom, just 1 mag to make sure everything is functioning the way it should, i will try it again today and run 50rds of factory ammo just to be really sure..again thanks and no offense taken, I'm just happy that i was not hurt just my ego on reloading is shatterd so to speak

Whats wrong with a digital scale? Most read in tenths and mine seems to produce just as accurately as my beam scale.

PS. Bullseye is a fast powder but an accurate one for .45. Check your load data and post the recipe you used. I would pull some bullets and weigh the charges too.

I'll try to remember how i loaded it , I'll take picture of the scale, bullet and powder that i used, the only thing that i can think of is maybe i messed up the zeroing of the scale??I seated the bullet to tight?the primer was not all the way in the pocket? I know its not double charge bec i only did 5 pieces of ammo..

Digital scales are fine. It was operator error.

Check your powder weight and reloading manual. You are lucky to still have a gun, let alone your hand.

Just because you only did 5 rounds doesnt mean its not a double. You keep suspecting the scale wasnt zeroed and I might suspect that. If it were a true double charge, I would bet you would have blown the barrel hood. It was probably just an extremely hot load.
