115gr +p+

Is there really that big of a difference between this and 124 +p? I currently use the 124 (HSTs) but the local police supply store has some ranger Ts in 115 +p+ for a heck of a deal. Thought about picking up a box or two if its still there. I know getting an opinion on this stuff is like asking someone what their favorite color is but I still had to ask.

This would be for a subcompact 9mm

Ranger 115+P+ is not the T-Series. It is a standard jhp but has a very good real world track record. Federals version the 9BPLE also has a very good track record.

I used it back before the T-Series ammo came out.

ah. I guess I should have looked at the box more carefully. It was with the rest of the T series, but I guess thats why it was cheaper lol.

3"+ bbl use +P's

4" and over not needed IMO.

Sure the extra 40 fps is great, but from what i have read, and seem to agree with is that +P is great for sub compacts so that the hollow point can get to spec for maximum expansion.
because a lot of the powder is not burned with the shorter barrel using standard pressure.

with 4"+ allows the bullet to get to spec with standard pressure.

As a rule (?), the heavier the bullet, the deeper the hollow point; and the deeper the hollow point, the greater the expansion!
