Federal Premium shell casing metal?
I am fairly new to firearms, and I recently aquired some Federal Premium 200g+P EFMJ and some Hydrashok 165gr HP for my XD-45 and I couldn't help but notice that the shell casings don't look like brass. I am guessing as it is a premium personal defense ammo that it's not aluminum. I've been poking around here and on Federal's web site but I can't for the life of me figure out what they're using. Any help without making me feel too stupid?

Well I don't know for sure, but according to this (http://www.patricks-home.de/efmj/EFMJ1.html) the casings are nickel plated to identify carry rounds more easily from brass-cased target rounds.

The nickel plating is to prevent corrosion that occurs on brass cases. It's purrly cosmetic. It has nothing to do with identifying rounds. Just about all high end PD rounds are nickel.
