Wolf .223 lookin' real good to me now.

They way ammo is going, I just swallowed my pride and picked up 40 rounds of Wolf for 10 bucks. The word on M4carbines.net is the new poly coated stuff is actually pretty good. It stinks, but it feeds well, and no more lacquer build up.

Ill also stock pile some of the good stuff for a SHTF situation. But for the range and plinking, $25 for 100 rounds sounds fantastic.

The poly-coated has the new Grey casing, and looks like this.

1000 rounds of 62gr Hollow Points for $200 seems pretty damned good to me! If it works well in your gun, why bother stockpiling the "good stuff"?

I shoot Wolf all the time out of my .223 AK. The poly stuff doesn't produce as much red flake and residue as the laquer stuff but it's by no means clean-burning. Let us know how it runs! I have close to 1000 rounds sitting around to feed my AK but I'd love to know how it functions in an AR as well. I'd never use it in my 20" target gun but I'm building an SBR and may have to give it a chance. The reviews in the link you posted are pretty positive.

BTW - Wolf has repackaged their laquer-coated stuff as "Military Classic" in camo boxes. I don't think you'd ever run into the laquer stuff in black boxes unless you get some "new old stock" from a store that's had it on the shelf for a while. I may have to pick up another case of the 62 gr HP poly stuff when I get a chance.

I run nothing but Wolf .223 in my AR and it shoots just fine. Its good stuff for the price. I cant see spending $350-400 on a case just to plink with.

Got a deal on 1000 Wolfs for $120 at Gander Mountain.
I've shot probably 500 rounds of it through my AR build. The only problem I've had was when I'd shoot the Ciener 22LR conversion kit, then try to shoot Wolf, the casing would jam in the chamber throat area. After getting at it with a chamber brush it was all back to normal but I can't for sure say that the same thing wouldn't have happened even with the brass casings.

Definitely not a bulls-eye ammo, but if you're practicing for 2 gun / 3 gun stuff and knocking down steel, this is definitely the way to go (unless you go the 22LR conversion rout )

Cheers,

Wolf Poly has been out for a long time. Also the laquer stuff is not too bad either, but your right there is build up and you do have to clean your weapon more.

Me AR's shoot Wolf almost exlusively. As the old saying goes.. If your gun doesn't work with Wolf it has bigger problems.

I agree. If your AR doesnt run with Wolf then you need to address some things. A solid AR should run Wolf with no problems. Lets see if mine is up to par!
