What about Federal Tactical HST 9mm +P 124gr for a sub-compact?

I was thinking the same thing for mine. Unfortunately, I can't read or something and ended up ordering the 147gr HST (and Ranger T 147gr as well ). I'm also going to try out the Corbon DPX +P 115gr.

I have reservations about the GDSB.

The velocity isn't anything special and the price is way high. I'd just as soon pay less for something as good or better (Federal HST looks VERY promising, but the short barrel question looms). Double Tap is a giant question mark too...

After taking a class in wounding effects, it doesn't really seem to matter WHAT you shoot. You either hit something vital or you don't and only 18% of people shot w/ a handgun dies in the USA (including intentional suicides which tend to be successful).

The only thing a higher caliber seems to get you is better penetration through barriers and heavy clothing.

So, I carry a .22 gallery short pistol! Not really.

I read very mixed reviews on CorBon... lots of jacket shedding, etc. It looks like the latest Federal 9mm loads are plenty reliable, though HST would probably be my primary.

Jacket shedding? Must be a different Corbon round then. The DPX are solid copper. Only thing I've heard about them is that some people have accuracy issues with them. They are crazy expensive though. I paid ~$22 for a box of 20.
