Thumbs up Which Caliber for AR15?

I have recently been looking at AR15s and have recently found out that the .223 Remington and the 5.56 Nato rounds are not the same. So my question is which is the better round? Will and AR15 that fires the .223 fire the Nato round without any problems? Any additional information on this subject is appreciated.

There is a only a minor difference in the dimension of the round. I believe the only major difference is that the 5.56 has higher pressures and the chamber it is being shot out of has to be able to hold those pressures. Most if not all ARs should be able to handle it.

Point being: get an AR that chambers 5.56 and you'll have no problem at all firing .223.

Unless its a match rifle, get it chambered in 5.56 NATO.

get the 5.56 unless you are useing to to shoot matches in that case a 223 is a more accurate chambering although the 556 is also very accurate

I have looked at the AR10 and find them very interesting. Thing that I am worried about is over penetration and ammo selection. I dont know much about carbines and their ammo. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Most ARs say their chambered for 556, some are, some are slightly out of spec. I only see .223 available anywhere anyway, so I really dot care about the 556 NATO round.
