shooters use a light load. I hope that is right IDPA. I am new to this type of shooting, and might have said that wrong.

It seems that there recoils is null. Just a slide action. Is this because they have loaded the loads light?

meaning that they don't use OTC ammo? I mean even FMJ WWB has a little more pop than seen on most videos

yes you can use OTC ammo, but those that go for every edge will load their own ammo

example .45acp 230gr only needs to be above 718fps

normal GI 230gr hardball is 850fps

WWB runs at 1200 fps with a power factor of 138. Because WWB is a light bullet that runs fast, it has a snappy recoil. For me, I run a heavy bullet that has a power factor of 130 power factor. It is softer than WWB and I prefer the lumbering recoil vs the snap.

We have this guy at IDPA who insists on cheating. Nobody really gives him any huff about it since he's just there to mingle.
Anyways, he shoots a 38 revolver and doesn't put any powder in his casings, just uses the primer,,,maybe magnum primers.
His pistol has zero muzzle jump, although I'm afraid one of the bullets will bounce off the cardboard one of these days

The bullet would get stuck in the barrel. He has to use some powder not even magnum primers will allow the bullet to exit the barrel let alone hit a target and open a hole.

I've seen single action shooters fire .38 rounds with 3gr of unique and you can almost see the rounds as they hit the targets but they still have powder. The shots sound like .22 subsonics and at long ranges 50 yards or so you kinda have to wait for the ping on steel targes.

That's what I was thinking. We reload a lot of rounds and every now and then, we'll get one that didn't get powder. Quite a different sound. It's pretty easy to determine when you have just fired the primer with now powder because of the pop sound. I think just about every time we've done this, the bullet lodges itself in the barrel. And one time, a new shooter was shooting one of our Kimbers. Shot a round that lodged in the barrel, but didn't recognize the sound difference. The pictures below are the result.

Not possible, sorry, been there & done that (on accident). He is proibably loading 125gr bullets w/ a few grains of fast pwoder. Used to see those "gamers" in CAS & IPSC too. I thought IDPA required duty/carry ammo?
