What type of bullet is this???

I got a bag of these in .38 along with another container of brass and powder. I have never seen these before and was wondering just what are they and what are they used for?

It's a wadcutter. Used for target shooting since the cut a real nice hole also used for selfdefence.

A wadcutter is a bullet like the ones in your picture. They're made for cutting neat, round holes in paper targets.

Wadcutters are target bullets for revolvers. Their shape is conducive to punching clean, round holes in paper.

Thanks for the quick replies. I've seen the semi-wad-cutter (SWC) and heard them called wad cutters. They look different. I got them from my neighbor who used to target/comp shoot. It came with a bunch of 38 brass. I may start reloading them for my little sister, or get myself a .38/.357 snubby wheelie.

They are soft lead so you can push the very fast. I never load them faster than 900 fps.

Heh, sounds like me trying to convince myself that I need a Savage .308 cause I found a pile of .308 brass at the range
