I have a different take on this.

There are so many variables, its really hard to say. .22 caliber guns will point out the biggest variances you ever saw. I shot a forum members .22 target rifle the other day and put 2 groups in the paper the size of my pinky nail. We changed ammo and it opened up almost an inch!
My own .22 rifles are the same.

My varmint rifle gets fed handloads. I can change brands of bullets and the groups will go from under .500 at 100 yards to almost an inch. Same goes with changing the seating depth of the bullet by several thousandths.

Find what it likes and stick with it, dont worry so much about why.
Yep.

There is no point in buying more DPX ammo since you've been show it doesn't fire well in YOUR pistol.
There is nothing mythical/magical about the DPX, plenty of other JHP are just as good if not better.
You did a good thing by buying several brands to determine what works for you, now you know.
Others can say it's good ammo (and it just might be for them), but you've proven different in your pistol. In fact quite a few people have stated the same thing with the DPX, (it's just not as accurate as other JHP's)
Why keep buying the same ammo, just to hope for a better result? I don't understand hoping and forcing an ammunition to work just because someone wants to use/carry this type...this isn't the magic 'ice' bullet afterall.

It could be a bad batch of DPX or it could be your gun does not like them.

I've shot about 100 rounds of DPX through my XD-9. It all worked fine and was very accurate too.

I think DPX has a very soft recoil compared to other +P rounds.

This is true.
I was going to fire the ice bullets, but they melted in my hands. Guess i need to try the m&m's bullet.

I had two boxes of each type that day so forty of each. I think the choice for now is REM GS 147gr, or FED HYDRA-SHOCK 124gr.

I wanna try some 127gr RANGERS.

just finished a post on GT mentioning the consistent inconsistency of DPX rounds on the cronograph.

check it out on the caliber corner if you like under CorBon DPX. I'd link it if I had time ATM.

FWIW, My xd9's, 2 service and a subcompact, shoot better with the 124/125 grain loads than the 115. Normal pressue, +p, handloads, over the counter, whatever. My wife and I both seem to get better groups with the heavier bullets. After a few thousand rounds, I just buy the heavier bullet when I have a chance.

I have to continue to say that I again tried the DPX 115gr yesterday. Same thing. I shot from a rest. I aimed at the bull at 15 yards. I Squeezed the trigger. It shot wild. It just shoots wild out of my gun.

I loaded the Federal HS 124 gr. Bullseye!
I did not shoot the Remington 147gr yesterday.

I then started with the ball 115. It was bullseyes all day with ball.

Yeah. My gun just doesn't like the DPX. That is fine. I will take Federal HS 124gr for a choice. At least I know that it shoot bulls at 15 yards +, and that it has a decent rep as a defense round.

I also did some research on the +P rounds. I read this, and it makes total sense.
The +P is designed for sub 4" barrels. i.e. XD SubCompacts. It is because the 3" barrel will not allow for full fps of the bullet like the 4" will. The 3" barrels need a little push to get them going full throttle.
I am okay with shooting standard rounds that reach 1100+ fps.
