I recomend taking a defensive pistol class from one of the well known (many) instructors, if you havent already. I took one from my "local range" several years ago and all it turned out to be was just an rehashed CCW permit class. I then Took a "real" defensive pistol class from a nationaly known instructor, and several more since.
Remember there is not "The" way ,or "A" way but many tools in a box that may or may not work for you. You will be suprised how may shots you fire in a defensive situation (class). You will also be suprised how many malfunctions you see in a class from all different types of firearms Glocks & 1911s through revolvers. A lot of this is ammo or maintance problems the majority... bad mags I favor a spare double stack mag and a light (surefire L-1 for me) Two spare single stacks. I also cary a BUG (Back up Gun) Nothing beats the speed of a New York reload. Plus if your weapon fails, you are shot in the strong arm and lose your weapon keeping a BUG on week side can keep you alive,in the fight. Remember you are playing catch up in a defensive situation, the BG/BGs have the drop on you... your not superman and you have a more then good opertunity to get shot/hurt in some way... The best way to win a fight is not to get into it in the first place (situational awareness) Cary what you feel comfortable with and can conceal well. Your not rambo, but play to win! your life depends on it. You would Hate you needed that spare mag and its in the car/coat/purse/bag/etc thats not at your imediate disposal. Practice, practice,practice... draw stroke, firing, and different firing positions. Strong side, weak side, etc. Guess Im preaching to the choir I digress... Hey this is my first post, Hi all |

There is no such thing as a fair fight. He who plays dirty wins.
