Do you guys know if mags from a service and SC will work together? What I mean is, if I buy a bunch of mags for my 4" can I use them in the SC? I know they would stick out a bit.

Just have to get a slip on adaptor to run a full size mag in a sub. When I bought my XD40 back in the day ammo was cheaper and the diffrence was not as severe between 9mm and 40 a sit is now. If I where to do it today I would get the 9mm I find I shoot them more offten as its more finicially viable. When it comes down to it no matter what the caliber put 5 rounds on taget and your going to drop the person unless hes weaing body arrmor/or really flying. Then no matter what the caliber your screwed. Most guns I look at buying new now a days I usaly buy in 9MM, I am looking at a M&P right now in 9MM.

I would go with the 9mm, just because that is what I have always grown up on. It shoots good, and with the right ammo it can be very effective on a BG. BUT...if you can't make up your mind, get the 40 and then buy a 9mm conversion barrel and you'll be set for anything.

Nothing wrong with a .40, but I'd get a good 9mm.

I picked .40
It is by far and large the best compact handgun round on the market. (Compact meaning not a massive revolver round) It has nearly the same stopping power as a .45, it has FAR more juice than a 9mm and it's really not that expensive.

Perfect Solution...
Do what I did. Get the .40 and then buy a 9mm conversion barrel. You get the best of both worlds! The conversion barrel just slips right into place where your .40 barrel goes, and you're ready to fire 9mm. So easy! Just my .02!

I opted for the .40 for a few reasons....Namely it packs more punch than the 9mm, makes a bigger hole, and because I was just getting ready to start my L.E. academy and found *most* of my local officers and departments preferred the .40.
It's nice having only one caliber to feed multiple firearms. It is more snappy/harder to control during rapid fire...but not too bad once you get used to it. Cost is barely a factor when buying locally in my area. |

I had the same question. I did a poll here on the xd 45, 40 and 9mm. I posted range targets of my shootings.
the 45 won in the poll. I went back to the range and shot the 45. I liked it alot, but the 9mm was more accurate (faster bullet maybe). I ended up getting a 9mm service. I have put ruffly 500 rounds through it already. I has eaten every kinda round i put through it. I was brought up as a 45 shooter (1911). I had heard the bigger is better all my life, but when i shot the 9mm, i just could not put it down. it has a nice pop. easy to get back on target, and with the modern ammo you can get the same results. I totally gave up on the XD40. to me there was no middle of the road. why get a 40 when you can have a 9mm or a 45. both of these calibers have been proven for over 100 years. to me the 40 seems like a glamor round. no offense to anyone. it is a damn fine round (i would not like to find out). i just could not see the middle road. XD9 Service is what I got, and I love it!! Last edited by *SA-XD4ME*; 08-06-2007 at 10:22 AM. |
