Thumbs up Your Opinion..$400 Dillon 550B used

I can pick up a used one for $400 with a 45acp die set and other dies.... electonic scale, and cases, powder, bullets, primer caps and a vibratory case cleaner (tumbler).... and lots more. I shown him a list from Brian Enos web site... he has it all except the video manual. He's moving out of state. He works for a gun dealer... I'm asking is this a good price? I'm heading over tonight to check it out. What should I be looking for? All I want is to reload 45acp and 9mm. Any thing else is extra and I could be selling all the other stuff here. What's you opinion?? .... or

i know that sportsmans has them locally but im not sure on price.

figure out what it would be new then figure if the savings is worth the used equipment. and it depends on the condition.

One thing about dillon is they have a no-questions asked warranty, You could buy it used, Drop it from the roof on the driveway, call em up tell em it's broke send it in and they'll fix it.

I call dibs on the electronic scale. I'll do an even trade for my Lee.

It does sound like a pretty good deal. If the press is all banged up apparently you can send it back to Dillon and they'll fix it (for free?).

yes, that's a good deal for everything to get started on reloading. Like other said, even if something might be wrong, the rock hard warranty of Dillon can put your mind at east.
I'd offer a little less, but even if he says no, it's a good deal.

Might be hard starting off with a Dillon, but it sounds like a good deal to me.

I disagree, I had no prior reloading experiance when I got my Dillon. A friend of mine helped me a bit for stuff like setting the bell in the case mouth. Learning on the Dillon was fairly straight forward. Although the video helped make it easier.

How old is the press? Not that it really matters. A little cleaning with some alcohol pads and it should be good to go. You can always get the spare parts kit ($14.95) to do a little maintenance and the video is only $5.95.

BrianEnos.com wants $379.95 for the press alone. Sounds like a winner to me. I paid about $1000 for my 550 new and everything else to get started for .40 & .45. Including first order of Bullets, primes & cases.

I don't know if Dillon will transfer the warranty, maybe others know or you can call them.

Even if you were to go with a less expensive single stage, the initial set up costs will be about the same as just going with this deal. The electronic scale is also a nice item, does he have check weights. He sweetened the deal by throwing in the bullets, primes & cases.

I would say go for it.

The 550B is a good progressive to start on, if you want to start right into a progressive. With all the access. that is a very good deal. If anything is wrong, just call Dillon & they'll make it right.
