Need Help with reloading problems
What you see below are the reject children from my first batch of 300 rounds of .45ACP. I'm GUESSING that I didn't expand the case enough to accept the bullets but I'm not sure and figured I would ask here from the more experienced reloading guys.
I was running the expander die about 1/3rd into the case so I thought it was plenty. What I may do next time is average out the size of a group of bullets and then expand the mouth of the case slightly larger and set my die for that. Does that sound like a good idea? Thanks for any help. Click for a bigger picture:

It does look like the cases may not have been expanded enough to keep the bullet straight.
I bell my cases enough to just place the bullet on it without it cocking sideways on the way up to be seated. If your taper crimp die is set correctly it should smooth it out. What equipment are you using? |

+1 looks like you didn't bell the case mouth enough. Give the expander 1/2 turn and run a case through. What you want is for the bullet to go in slightly without any force applied.

Alright sounds good I WAS having problems with them wobbling back and forth when i would set them on top of the case. 185Grn. Flat nose bullets. So I need it belled just enough enough to sit a round on top of the case and NOT have it wobble right?

That's what I would've said. I had this problem for sure with Rainier bullets when I first started. Glad you got it fixed.

You may also have your seating die set too low. It looks like you're using the crimp in the seating die, when you should be using the Lee crimping die instead. Do NOT following the directions on setting up the dies that came in the die box. Go to the Lee website and watch the videos on how to setup the dies.
