.45 LC vs. 45 ACP

Can anyone tell me the difference between a cast lead .45 LC 200gr RNFP bullet with a diameter of .452 and a .45 acp bullet. I bought 500 of the LCs by mistake and am wondering if I can use them. I've got an XD45 if that makes any difference.
Thanks,
Kirby

First off, they arent jacketed and will lead-foul your barrell quicker. They make good range ammo if you want to clean your gun bore thoroughly after use.

Thanks for the quick reply, but I'm still confused about the difference. Why would the box specify LC?
Thanks again,
Kirby

The .45 LC and the .45 ACP share nearly the same dimensions. I believe the word long was added to the cartridge to designate the difference between the two because the .45 LC was a bit longer and more powerful round and no one wanted to confuse the two when purchasing ammo for their revolvers back in the day.
I'm sure someone more in the know will chime in soon on this because there are a lot of knowledgeable people here who know the .45 ACP very well.

I never shot lead before until someone gave me some 185 SWCs to try.

I just cleaned my 45 last night after putting about 100+ of them through it over the course of a week or so and I can't see any leading.

I just picked up some 200s as well for cheap range plinking.

Bullets for the 45colt have a crimp groove. I use the 200grLRNFP in my 45acp, especially the XD. Cleanup, no big deal at 45acp vel.

As I was told,.........You can use them for both the 45 Colt & 45 ACP. They both .452 inches in diameter. I also asked about using them for the 454 Casull. He said it would be fine with a gas check bullet. So I can use a .452 diameter lead mold for three handguns.

The 454 started out as a .454 diameter, but has now shrunk to .452. The same is true for the 45 Colt. I forget the year that it actually changed to .452.

Unless your pushing them at hot velocities, you shouldnt have any leading issues.

I'm assuming you bought reloading components and you're not talking about a rimmed revolver cartridge...
