Question Alternative to Reloading Yourself?

Have any of you done any business with National Bullet Company? A co-worker of mine came across them on the web as an alternative to buying all the equipment, and reloading .45 ACP target rounds ourselves. We only shoot about 200rds a piece each week, so we really can't justify purchasing the reloading equipment.

National Bullet Co sells re-manufactured .45 ACP 230g FMJ @ $239 per 1000rds. That's nearly exactly what I've been paying for Blazer Brass @ Walmart, so no big deal there.
However, if you send in 1000 of your empty casings, the price is $169.
So 17 cents each of re-manufactured rounds of 45acp, and you supply the casings versus the .24 - .32 we're paying for brand new ammo.

We're thinking about giving it a try, but I just wanted to check with yall here for any horror stories.

Thanks,

400 rounds between both of you is justificatioon for reloading equipment.

You can get a Dillon Square Deal or 550 for a decent amount.

Thanks,

I live very near National Bullet here in Ohio in fact I drive by them going to and from work and have gone to there facilities several times before getting into reloading. At the time, and since I was going into the store, I got good service. That said it seems that there are having trouble filling web orders in a timely manner, at least the last I heard a few months ago. They have great prices. I had purchase a case of 38 specials and several cases of 40S&W. The 38s are pretty good given the price. The 40S&W was good ammo, ran very reliably but was not up to the specs on their website. They advertised a 180gr bullet going 1000fps. When I chronographed the stuff out of my two XD's I was getting ~850fps. That is a huge difference and did not make Major for UPSPA competition. I have since started reloading myself and have not had reason to go back although I might when I run out of 38s since I don't reload those yet. They are OK but I would call the order or at least talk to them first and make sure they will be able to fill the order in a timely manner. If you live local they are an even better deal as the prices out the door are slightly cheaper than what they charge on the website.

Hope that helps
mcb

No kidding! Between the two of you, you are shooting 1600rds a month. Between the two of you, you can split the cost of a very nice handloading setup of $600. You can load your own w/ FMJ for $120/K. You save $50/K. In 8 mos. you payed for your loading setup & the cost of ammo is only going up. If you load w/ lead or plated bullets you can get down below $100/K.
Handloading isn't diff. nor really time consuming. You save some money, make better ammo than you can buy & have ammo when you want it. No brainer man.

Between the two of you, the cost of the initial setup for say a Dillon 550, or even the 650 plus scale, dies, tumbler, calipers, and everything else would be made back in a few months. The cost of reloads and shipping costs to get your ammo and send your brass to them would justify the initial expense. Plus you guys could create loads to suit you and your firearms.

I was steered away from doing business with National Bullet Company. I read threads on several forums, brianenos, the highroad and here. Guys had been waiting for a long time to get their orders filled. Once a company builds a bad rep its hard for them to make a come back.

Anyone else have terrible time with nation bullet?

Rainier Bullets.

Start reloading.
You won't save money but you'll shoot twice as much for the same cash.
AND you can buy more guns in new calibers and buy more dies and powder and primers and cases and then buy a rifle and another press just for rifles and new dies and powder and primers and cases and two tumblers, one for pistols and one for rifles and then you can buy a gun safe and even more guns and eventually when you die the government will take it all away but you'll be dead so who cares.

Ive been toying of the idea of buying reloading supplies off them for a while now. I have not yet pulled the trigger They are about 45-60min from my house so they are not far but not exactly convenient either.

A while back Ive heard some grumbling about them, but nothing lately.

These were not foreigners killed by invading armies during times of war, these were citizens killed by their own governments in times of peace.
