More reloading experience...
Did some more shooting today with reloads for .303brit and .223.
The .303 rounds were compared to the Privi factory rounds that I purchased earlier. I had to judge the comparison based on groupings...since the two didn't appear to have the same trajectory. I tried to hit the outdoor range for some distance shooting...but the dirt road had a huge hole that was the size of my Pilot. Anyway I shot at 40yds at another range. It was odd...both Privi & reloads were the same weight 150gr. The reloads had more recoil, even though they were loaded close to the starting load. Yet they hit the target consistently lower than the Privi rounds, which had less recoil? It confused me since I thought it would be the other way around. I didn't notice any difference between neck size only versus full length sized reloads. So neck size for the future since it will make the brass last longer. For .223, you may recall I had reported a "Strange AR Failure", which is the title of that thread. Anyway, no failures with the reloads. All worked very well and yielded nice groups. All primers stayed retained even though I didn't bother crimping them. Recoil was about the same between mine and Georgia Arms reloads. But my reloads were noticably more accurate with tighter groups. Anyway, nothing earth shattering to report. I just thought it would be good to post. I think there's a lot of interest in reloading here and just sharing an original post, plus the great comments / questions / feedback is helpful for all on the forum. |
