Missing Ammo from Walmart

I picked up a couple boxes of Blazer Brass .40 a couple weeks ago. When I opened one of the boxes at the range it was missing 6 rounds. Pissed me off. Looks like someone on the inside is pinching from the boxes. I bet I'm not the only one. I'll be speaking to the store manager next trip.

Moral of the story, always check the boxes when purchasing.............

It's happened to me before but with 357 Sig, lucky I had opened the box by chance at the counter and the sporting goods manager was standing right their. It was missing 10 rounds.

I but WWB Value Pack (100 round box). The first few times I bought this ammo I counted out the rounds and it was always right on the money. With ammo prices going up I'm not surprised that some store clerks have resorted to pilfering.

I almost forgot about this incident. I purchased a box of 357 Sig WWB @ Walmart took it to the range and opened it up and turned out to be .40 S&W. Someone switched the ammo at the store. Not much I could do about it after the fact. I told the store manager the next time I went to Walmart and now I check each box of 357 Sig I purchase especially at $18 a box of 50.

I shot the .40 S&W through my friends Glocks so not a huge loss, just re-enforcement of why I own XD's.

You know Wal Mart's return policy is very liberal (sorry, can't think of another word for it). If they sell it and you don't like it you can return it. I bet someone returned that box of ammo and the clerk (cluck) never even bothered to look inside. I would kind of doubt that a employee would steal a handful of bullets, but anything is possible I guess. I bet I could return a box of ammo filled with rocks and no one would know. The odds are pretty good that you could get away with it.
I've seen dirty old muddy boots that looked they were used in the swamps for years and they were in the returns bin at Wally's. I couldn't believe someone at Wally's took them back and I couldn't believe someone tried and succeeded
I used to work retail back in the early 80s. In the sporting goods department I found a box of 30/30 ammo that was returned for some unknown reason. I opened the box up to see what was wrong and it turned out someone had reloaded the cases after firing them. Necks were split, imporperly crimped and powder was spilling out of them. I don't know who the employee was that took them back.

That happens more at Meijer where the boxes are out on the shelf. Well, maybe it happens to me and I don't even know it since I buy the WWB 100 pack 9mm which are just thrown in the box. It would be pretty easy for someone to pocket 6 rounds and I probibly wouldn't notice.

I buy wwb from 2 sources in the bulk 100-round value pack. I then sort the boxes into 50-round plastic boxes. I have never had 100 rounds in the bulk wwb box - I have always, always had 101. Even after Luis at Wally World accidentally dropped a box and scattered rounds everywhere, there were still 101 in the box when I got home.
