Hornaday TAP in 223

Has anyone used this ammo in the 60 or 75 grain loading? I have a few extra dollars and was thinking of getting a couple of boxes to try out. I wanted to know how well does it feed, how accurate is it compaired to military 62 grain surplus? I have a bunch of the 62 grain surplus and am just curious what everyone thinks of the TAP. Thanks

Let me say I love Hornady products. From their progressive presses to their ammo. I load using A/V maxes and those bullets are devasting on game when they hit their target.

I have used mostly the 55gr TAP for .223 and it's very accurate. It's just their V max bullets. I have 2 boxes of the 75gr TAP, but I have not fired them. What is the twist on your rifle? You want to make sure that it will stabilize the 75gr bullet.

I am willing to wager that any Hornady product will be more accurate than any surplus ammo that you own.

My Carbine and Match rifle w/ 1-7 twists love it! Very accurate. The 75gr bullet is also very good handloaded. If you do any reloading you can get very close to the same load using 24gr of RE15 and the Hornady 75gr match bullet(not A-max)

Always download any load data and work up. I am not responsible for your gun blowing up!

I always consult my speer and winchester loading manuels and load on the side of caution. Usually middle of the table maybe SLIGHTLY higher. Better safe than sorry.

The 75 grain Tap load is one of the best going right now as a .223 defense load and police duty load. Here is why look at the top bullet.

I wish I could afford more of the stuff because my Mini make groups like my Savage when I'm shooting it.
Incredible stuff, and the black cases are awfully cool.

The 75 may have a little more penitration than I want in my house gun. I am thinking a 40gr hollow point or balistic tip is what I want in a house. The 75gr is best suited to long distance and keeping it's weight through barriers. It has been feild tested in Iraq and the stan as a replacement for the 62gr load.
