And Ranger Talons work a bit better than SXTs.. Also, tho it the box says LE, they are available to the public. There is a member on the Ammo Can that sells them for a reasonable price.

The DT ammo looks very interesting to me. I will be giving it a try. It is talked about highly on Combat carry and Glock Talk forums. All of his ammo is listed as below +p pressures so it should be safe in just about any modern firearm.

Thanks for the correction. You're exactly right. I missused SXT. I was referring to the Ranger T LE Loads. Not the SXT stuff. Funny when you have boxes of it in the safe you don't actually read the label...

I'm using the 230Grain +P Ranger T. Works great.

All that you can depend on from a 45 is that it will drill a .45 - .70 inch hole about 14 inches into someone. There will not be "energy dump", people will not fly backwards, and they will not necessarily fall as if they have been struck by lighting.

While it is fun to argue all these unprovable points, does anyone really think that a guy will walk away at 5 yards after a Ranger or SXT or Gold Dot, but instantly fall from a Double Tap? We should worry so much about our shooting technique, and practice.

Those that favor penetration more than expansion or velocity remember that the 125grn .357 Mag loading are very fast incapacitators but only penetrate about 8in in gel. Seens the most fragmenting round with high velocity actually work in the world vs the penetration arguement.

I alternate between Corbon DPX and DoubleTap's 124 grainer in my my Sig 239 and XD357 Service, both chambered for the 357Sig (after the .45 ACP my favorite caliber, the .357Sig is just a helluva lot of fun to shoot and no slouch when it comes to protecting your tush).

DoubleTap is good stuff.

At some point you just have to pick what you like. I have some Speer Gold Dots for short barrels in my P228 right now. No one in town had 9mm DPX in stock. I typically carry DPX in the 228 because I am very concerned with penetration with the 9mm. With the XD45 I've been carrying DPX, but I am ordering some HST and if I like the way it shoots, I'm switching to that for .45 SD as it has similar expansion and costs way less.
