Anyone use Lead bullets in their XD40?
I was wondering if anyone uses lead bullets in their XD40? I have a 4" service model and was considering making the switch.
I mean real lead, not Moly's or Poly's. I've had good luck with the Precision and the Bear Creek Moly's, but with the cost going up, lead is real cheap and I eventually might cast my own, so was wondering what your experiences has been? I'm also a big fan of Titegroup.

How do, lpspinner.
I shoot hand-cast slugs from my XD40 service. They are just wheel weight alloy with Lee stick alox lube. I use a Lee mold (175 grain truncated cone) and size the bullets .401". Haven't used Titegroup yet, but 4.5 grains of Win 231 under that bullet is sweet. And despite the soft alloy and semi-soft lube, I don't get any leading.

I have 2 XD's and lead is all I shoot. For the .40 I like to load a 180 gr tc over 5.3 gr Unique or 4.3 gr Bullseye. Both are very accurate

while not in a XD I do shoot cast in my cz40B.never bought a jacketed bullet.bought the pistol ordered a 175 gr bullet mold and a .401 sizer.
4.7 grs unique has been the most accurate load so far and no leading. pete

I used to but it is so much easier to clean after plated or jacketed.
With the recent prices hikes though, I might be going back to lead

I've shot 700 rounds through my XD-45, I'd say that probably 400-450 of those rounds have been with these bullets:
http://meisterbullets.com/ A pain to clean up, but cheap to shoot (if there is such a thing anymore).

That's exactly what I was debating. The cost vs the amount of clean-up and leading.
Moly's would be the fine, but their not as cheap as they once were either. Can you make major velocities with just lead and not lead the barrel too much?

My XD40 loves Precision's Black Bullets. They are very accurate and very afforable. Check them out and give them a try!
