Carry ammo for a XD40SC
I am thinking of purchasing an XD40SC. This will be my daily carry weapon for the warm months. I was wondering what everyone is using for carry ammo in theirs?

Evryone has their favorite but rreally, any decent JHP will work. Choose your carry ammo using the following:
#1 reliability #2 reasonable accuracy #3 terminal performance Some penetrate interm. barriers better some expand more, it all works w/ rounds placed in the K zone. |

I currently carry Corbon 185gr DPX in my .45.
Best advice I have seen on this issue I think is, "Worry more about what the round is doing on your end than on the BG's end". Any name brand JHP in common personal defence calibers is going to do "the job", it just depends on exactly what job you want it to do. Unless you have special needs for low/high penetration, etc, IMO, choose something you are comfortable with and can shoot well out of your pistol. For example, I group my DPX consistent with my target rds but I tend to shoot hydrashok 2-4" low. I don't know why, but I have shot boxes of each and the results are consistent. But DPX is pricey and I can't practice with it as much as I would like so I am considering trying a lower price JHP and see how well I shoot it.

Let me add a little to my post. I currently carry a Glock 22 and I keep it loaded with Ranger T 180gr. I was wondering if any of you switch to lighter weight bullets in the smaller frame pistols? I know I will be loosing a little velocity with the 3" barrel and was wanting some input on your thought process.

FWIW, I have shot DPX 9mm (115 gr, 1250 fps from 4" bl) in the SC and like with the .45, I get very similar POI to practice ammo. Until/unless I choose another PD rd, I plan to use this when I get my 9mm.
