A Pic to see what some of these look like.
LTS has a point. VVN320 is a very good powder but expensive.

Universal Clays is easy to find around here. I guess that's what I will use when I finally get started.

It's pretty easy to find a single powder that works for all three. Many like TG but it falls short for full power loads in the 9mm & 40s&w. I like the med. burners better. Sure they use a grain or two more powder but you will be able to hit the higher vel. levels in all three. Unique, Universal, HS6, AA#5, WSF, PowerPistol all work well in all three. If I was to choose one, it would be Unique because I have the most exp. w/ it.

45 & 40 powder
I use Power Pistol, Tite Group, & Accurate #5 (in that order) for both 45 & 40 with good results.

I find that N340 works well in my 9mm (147gr), 40S&W (180gr), and 45Auto (230gr) loads, although I have also been known to use N310 (45Auto) and N320 (124gr 9mm).

I've used uniqe for years. The only thing I did'nt like was the unburned powder residue if I shot a lot. But it was very accurite. Now I'm playing with reddot. It is very clean burning.

RLS, Unique burns cleaner if you run it near max. It gets a bit dirty when you drop to midrange loads.

For my compitition loads I use regular Clays in all three. My 40 load is loaded long(10mm length) and care must be had that it doesn't shorten as it goes into the chamber. My #2 choice in Tite Group.
