Safe to loose pack ammo?
Should I avoid removing my ammo from the factory cardboard boxes and packing loose (in an ammo can w/ rubber seal)? I'm trying to save on space. I've got several lockable ammo containers. What would you do...any cons to doing this?

I dump all of my ammo loose into ammo cans. I find that by keeping them in the boxes my storage capacity per can is cut in half.
In a 30cal can I can put 400 rnds of 9mm in boxes. Take them out and dump them in I can store 1000 rnds in the same can. I have yet to have damaged ammo storing them this way.

I used to put my handloads in plastic boxes or back into the trays but now I just dump them in old bullet boxes.

I use the boxes that the bullets come in. The 500 count Rainier boxes hold just over 200 9mm rounds, Berry's hold 150 40S&W.
