Don't use it indoors. It smells bad and is very smoky. I won't use it anymore.

very very smoky. I used it when I first got my xd so I could put 500 rounds through it fairly cheaply. People at the indoor range hated me that day.

I had bought the ammo box with 300 rounds of Ultramax .40 S&W from Cabelas a while back and finally got to use it this past weekend. It definitely seemed to be smoky/dirty. I'm not sure if it was unspent powder or something else in there that didn't burn up, but it was a mess. As the local range is an indoor one, I doubt I'll be using it again.
As for any kind of jamming, of the three hundred rounds I only had problems with one. It was the top one in the mag and when I closed the slide it didn't close properly. I dropped the mag out and ejected the shell and kept going without any problems. But the range has a six round limit, so I never had more than five in the mag. Bass Pro had a good deal on Winchester .40 S&W 100 round boxes when they first opened here, so I'm gonna keep my eye out for another deal on those in the future. If you're shooing outdoors and not putting more than five or six rounds in a mag at a time, though, the stuff wasn't bad. Just be prepared for a lot of cleaning when you get home. As a side note, it was great getting back to the range. I bought a house late last year, and working on it certainly killed my range time. I haven't completely cured myself of flinching in anticipation of the recoil, but I noticed a big improvement as I went on.

I've been through about 150 rounds of .45 ACP and about 500 rounds of .40 S&W. I haven't had a single problem, ie: failure to fire, failure to feed or failure to eject.
I laughed when I read others posts about how smokey they are. Last time I shot this brand I couldn't get over how much smoke they were producing. I think a couple of guys a few row's down were laughing at me. LOL.

Shot 150 rounds of Ultramax .45acp in my XD. No problems at all. I was outdoors, so I didn't notice the smoking problem that has been mentioned. The only problem I had was the price. I bought it from Dick's in Kennesaw, GA for $39 for the 150 ct. box. A little on the high end considering Wally carries the Blazer Brass for $11+/- for 50.

I bought 500 rounds of it from Cabelas in .357Sig. So far I'm really impressed. It's not dirty and have had no failures of any kind. In this caliber at least, it gets an A+

I bought a box of this stuff for my xd 2 months ago. 250 rnds of 9mm 125 grn lead. I am still trying to get the lead out of my barrel. The lube is so dirty that on the indoor range we had to wait to continue the match from the smoke I made. I also had made fte and ftf with this crap. I would never but this again.
One of the other folks at the club also treid this stuff adn had the same problems. Not good for improving your classification. Good Luck |

I picked up a few boxes of remanufactured .223 from Cabela's a few years back and Ultramax is what they sent me.
Overall, it was pretty decent ammo. Shot well and was clean as the other brands. Everything in my boxes was LC headstamps. Never bought more of it though, found better sources for mil-sup at similar prices. |
