Does such a load exist?

Been looking for a .45 ACP load, and since I'm not a reloader....I'm at the mercy of the ammo companies.

Does any company manufacture a 200gr JHP load that runs 1000fps or better? Just seems to me this would be a great load.

I looked at a few of the major player ballistis tables and came up with a couple of 950fps candidates. Is that as close as I can get?

Is there a reason why you want the round to run that fast?

Why wouldn't you? Haha. I like the doubletapp, too. I had a lot of .40 S&W from them. It shot really well.

A lot of people are old fashoned and make ammo decisions based on velocity.

beaterar-

Thanks for the info.
I've never heard of Double Tap ammo, but I think I'm going to be giving them a try. That seems to be just what I was wanting to try out.

Old School-

It was one of those things where I was thinking.... dangerous stuff, me thinking.
But I thought it would be a good compromise between a real heavy bullet like a 230gr and light fast mover like a 185gr.
A 200 gr HP at 1100fps is going to have some serious energy to shed from muzzle to 25yards.

Whenever possible I prefer that faster bullet to a point, thats not to say the slower bullet is not capable of killing.

Speed dose count for something

There's one thing that will settle the big and slow versus small and fast debate. A big, fast bullet.

Beyond Double Tap (which lists just shy of a +p rating), CORBON, Hornady, and Speer all offer 200gr JHP 45 Auto +P loads with catalog muzzle velocity in the 1050 - 1080 range.

Both the Hornady & Speer 200gr+p are accurate & hit the 1000fps mark +/- depending on bbl. length.
