Best/Cheapest place to get ammo?
Ok, Ive sorta planned to go shooting with the family in a week or 2 and Ill prolly just take my XD9 and my Rem.870 20gauge. Dont really want to shoot the rifles.
But, I think I can get about 100 rounds for the 20 gauge at wal mart for around $15-$18. Same with the 9mm. Does anyone know of any other place with cheaper ammo in bulk? |

You might check the local sporting good stores. I've seen several deals on shotgun ammo as of late.

Bass Pro usually has Remington UMC for like $50-$60ish for 250 rounds 9mm. I can't recall exactly, I've never bought the 9mm box.

He's in NC we don't have an Academy here as far as I can tell from their website. Honestly the cheapest place I have found is wal mart. Most of the outdoor stores around here are small business that charge out the butt for ammo. I think the place here charges like 11 dollars a box of 50 for 9mm.
When I'm at home in Tx. I usually swing by Academy and blow 100 bucks on the Monarch ammo. Gets me about 1k rounds. The last time I bought some though was a few months ago the price may have risen since then.

In a market of panic buying these days, you don't come across "cheap ammo" any more. Anywhere you look online, if there is good price, it will most likely be gone before you get to it.
Walmart is still a good place for good price. Sportsman's Guide is also a good place. I particularly like how the SG marks some of the hoarders as commercial buyers and cancel their discount. IMHO a part of what contributes to the high ammo price we have today is those who hoard tens (or hundreds) of thousands of rds and consume every bit of reasonably priced ammo supplies on the market. That leaves the majority of others who live on a tight budget with high price, less affordable ammo. I consider myself lucky not having to live on a tight budget, but I don't condone some of the ammo hoarding that I am seeing (not you all, but some of those on that other famous EBR forum.... |
