Need Ammo Help- Anti-Fragmenting Rounds..
Ok, so I was out today with a couple guys doing some field testing of some AFR rounds for our departments use. We currently are using Extreme-Shock AFR rounds 40 cal.. We are looking for a round that will have limited through and through durring an "inside" shooting incident. Here is what we did- Two pieces of drywall with a piece of 1/2 inch wall particle board behind it, each spaced about 6 inches away from eachother. The AFR round had no trouble going through the first piece of drywall, and BLEW through the 2nd piece of drywall with more force then the first piece. 3 of 7 rounds went through the 1/2 inch wallboard and 4 or 7 rounds lodged a BIG piece of metal schrapnal into the wallboard about a 1/4 inch in. (This is the same expansion you would see on a JHP round). I also tried a couple of my personal carry rounds (165 Gr. Remington Golden Sabers 40cal) The Golden Sabers went cleanly throuh each of them no problems, just as I would expect for my personal carry rounds. Obviously enough of the metal from the AFR rounds are carrying through the drywall and some board and not stopping, what are the benifits of using these over a JHP then?? Can anybody make any suggestions for us in this area?? I was looking at Glaser Safety Slugs, but they seem to have the same amount of metal as the Extreme shocks do, so i would imagine they do the same thing.... Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

I can not think of any benefit of using this type of ammo.
