Extra Loud Reloads
I was given some reloading equipment a few weeks ago so I thought I would give reloading a shot. I decided to load up some 9mm ammo. It seems that my reloads are much louder and kick more than the Winchester ammo I normally shoot. I followed the directions I was given so it should be working.
First I made all the shells smaller and took the old primers out with the first die. I put primers into the shells. That was much harder than it seemed. Next I filled the cases up with gun powder. I used some gun powder that was labeled “titegroup” that I was given. I was told to use the little yellow scoops and fill the shell up to the top. This was the hardest part for me. I don’t see how anybody does this. I had to take a little a bit of gun powder out of each shell to get the bullets I was given to start into the shell. Once I took about an eighth of an inch out, everything worked well. I then just used the press and put the bullet in. Things were sort of strange when I shot the shells. The pistol was really loud and kicked more than normal. Do reloads kick more that factory ammunition? Or maybe I am just imagining things. I think I am doing everything right. Just making sure that the extra noise is normal.

Well, Im a total newb at reloading also. I loaded my first 48 rounds of .45ACP a week or two ago. I'm planning on going to the range today to test them out.
One thing that jumped out at me was that you said you "made all the shells smaller". If your trimming the shell down you decrease area and this will increase pressure. Plus Im not sure you should be filling your shell to the top. Normally that little yellow scoop would only fill a fraction of the shell.

My suggestion, STOP. Go get some reloading books, and read cover to cover. Seriously. STOP reloading in the manner above.

I'm not sure how your firearm hasn't exploded yet. It sounds like you are WAY overloading those things.

Sorry, but I don't find anything that can injure or kill someone and dealing with firearms funny. Especially when other stupid people can read the info after the fact and potentially mimic it. This is in poor taste if this is in fact a dumb ****ing April Fools prank.

I agree that this is most probably a joke. I also believe it is in bad taste.
A Joke because there is NOTHING Lee puts out with their "yellow" reloading scoops that says anything remotely like "fill to the top of the case/shell ". And the further bit about trying to get the bullet on top of a full case (as well as the bit about the primer insertion). In bad taste because there is nothing funny about a "kaboom". And also because someone can be this stupid. I know people that would qualify as this stupid. I am willing to bet even money you all also know someone that might be this stupid. |
