Reloading - best method for buying components?

Okay, I've finally selected all of the tools, dies, press, etc. So it's time to buy components and this newbee needs help.

Brass - I was thinking of just always buying complete rounds and then using the brass. And restocking brass by buying rounds again. I've saved 9mm, 5.56, and .303brit brass. Does that make sense? Or is it better to buy brass by itself? If the latter, is online the best way?

Powder - not sure of the shipping charges. I see lots of options online. There are couple of places that sell powder locally - Bass Pro Shop, gun range, etc. How do you folks buy your powder?

Primers - same as the powder. The prices locally seem high compared to online. But it may be offset by shipping charges?? How do you buy your primers?

Bullets - I don't see many options. Seems like the options are online or maybe gun shows. How do you get yours?

Thanks!

Brass - I shoot .45acp, .40s&w, and .38spl. To prime the pump so to speak I bought a couple thousand from brassmanbrass.com. After that it's range pickups. I now have more than I started with. Another option is eBay. Here and there you can get some good deals. Just be sure you use someone reputable by checking the feedback. I'm getting ramped up for .223 and Scharch will be my supplier. Highly recommended by the NRA High Power guys.

Powder and Primers - Being HazMat the shipping charges will eat you up. Besides the normal shipping charges throw in another $20 per order for HazMat. I found two one-man-shop reloading suppliers locally and deal with them. Both have treated me very well. See if there is an USPSA or IDPA club nearby and see who they use.

Bullets - For lead see if there is a local caster. You can't be the price when you back the truck to his shop and load up on 5000 or so. For Precision moly, one of my reloading shop guys carries it but the price is only a couple bucks a thousand less than if I order it direct from the factory. I've done it both ways. My jacketed bullet is Precision Delta. I have a third guy who deals mostly with IPSC shooters but is a two hour drive away. All I do is give him a call and he has it shipped direct from the factory and I get a bit of a break off retail.

don't forget ebay for brass. I was going to order from brassmanbrass.com but they were out at the time. Found ebay for the same price.

precisionbullets.com is what I ordered although I've yet to start reloading.

I've heard the .303 out of enfields doesn't last very long.

I think that's dependent on the headspace, which many Enfields are generously headspaced (so I hear). I checked my headspace with a field gage and it was fine, which is the max acceptable. But I also checked the spent brass and didn't find any problems.

Hazmat kills you on the powder, I get mine from Bass Pro Shops. My mom goes to houston pretty often so I get her to buy me 4 pounds every so often. A few months ago Natchez had a deal on rifle powder, 65.00 for 8 pounds and free hazmat shipping if you bought 9 pounds or more so I got 16 pounds.
Bullets I buy lead online. Precision, or Mastercast. .223 and .308 I get from Hi-techammo.

I collect brass that I have fired, buy bullets in bulk from Cabelas but buy powder and primers from Sportsmans Warehouse. They have an awesome selection of reloading equipment and components. It looks like the closest Sportsmans Warehouse to you is in South Carolina. You may also want to check out your local gun shows.

I get brass from eBay to start with. I also buy WWB bullets because of the price and reuse those cases as well. For powder and primers, I think it's best to deal with a local supplier. I have a local Mom Pop store close to me and a Sportsman Warehouse and Bass Pro in Oklahoma City and buy bulk from them once or twice a year. If you order online, the $20.00 shipping surcharge will eat your savings up.
For the bullets, I use Xtreme, Berry's and Rainier plated. Xtreme and Berry's will sell direct to you. Other online stores I use are, Cabela's and Midway, both are very good with fast shipping.

the one by us is very nice. Although they don't carry but a couple lee dies and the bullets brass isn't as cheap as online. However that where I plan to restock powder and primers.

You can buy once fired pistol brass pretty cheap on line, beats buying factory ammo for brass. Gunshows are good places to buy primers & sometimes bullets. The best way to buy powder is locally in small amounts or go in w/ a couple of buddies & order from several discount places like Powder Valley & pay the hazmat.
