hot loads

Yeah, I have a similar question for my XD45 w/ 4" barrell.
My dad bought me some Hornady 185 gr JHP XTP rounds and
I see a Hornady site says 5" barrel for this.
Any problems shooting this through a 4 " barrell ?

This got me to thinking about the Corbon +P rounds too.
I had heard those were for 5" barrels so could someone please
explain if it's a no no to use in 4 " barrel ?

Thanks,
Gary

Considering there is no +P defined by SAAMI, the XD40 can handle 35,000PSI loads from the .40S&W with ease.

Gary, the bbl. length has nothing to do with it. Your 4" is fine. Beware anyone selling +p 40s&w loads, no such animal.

.40 s&w is already a hot load.. it's not a round that gets made hotter.. not like 9mm or .45. i wouldn't shoot any .40 s&w that says it is hotter, or +p.
