Lets talk Cast Bullet Loads please..

I was informed that Rainer bullets are basically a cast bullet with a Copper "Covering" Not a true Jacketed bullet..

I have Unique Powder right now and it does pretty good with the Zero 165gr FMJs. So i would like to stay with that..

I know i asked this earlier but does anyone have any experence with these Rainers?
They are 135gr HPs.

Thanks guys!

Actually Rainer bullets are a swadged bullet (much softer than cast) with a copper flash covering. There is not much of a jacket there. You can almost cut into it with your fingernail. I prefer hard cast bullets to plated bullets and real jacketed bullets to cast bullets. But for pure ecomomy hard cast is the way to go.

I will shoot the rainer bullets any day over the hard cast with wax.
The wax will build up in your gun.
I use the rainer for fun shooting, like IDPA or IPSC. They shoot a lot cleaner. I would not use it for carry or hunting.

I prefer Hard cast I have not had a problem with the lube building up. However Rainer bullets suck in Glocks or any pistols with poligonal rifling. They also don't do well if you push them past 1200 fps.

The cast or the plated.

The plated do ok but generally I get better accuracy from the cast bullets I use.

With the Rainiers, start with a Unique load recommeded for cast bullets, then work your way up. Don't start with loads recommended for jacketed bullets.

I have shot alot of Rainiers and they are SOOOOO much cleaner that cast. Now I shoot Precision Delta jacketed because I can get them for about the same price and any plated bullet. But with the skyrocketing cost of bullets, I will probably go back to cast or moly-coated lead.

I used to shoot Berry's plated bullets. They worked great just got too expensive. The copper plate was pretty thick. I recoved 180gr plated bullets from the dirt that had all of the plating, even where the rifling engaged the copper. I shoot mostly lead now, after shooting lead run a couple of jacketed bullets through your gun and any lead fowling will go away.

bullets

I get my rainer from Midway on one of their no shipping cost deals.
It works good for me because I live in Alaska.
Even the hardcasts up here are spendy.

read on Alliants website.... the only thing i could find is 155 Laser cast load data..

Which it said 6.5grs Unique = 1064fps. So ill start back reloading... ill try 6grs of powder and go try them... if they shoot good, ill stick with them.
