Copper coated American-Ammo. Good or Bad?

I see that Sportsmans Guide has .45ACP of American Ammunition at a 1000rds for $204.22. Has anyone used this stuff ? It seems like a good deal.

I haven't used it in a couple of years. Shot a couple of boxes through a 1911 and P220. It was okay for sending copper encased lead downrange, but was dirtier than other factory ammo that I have shot and was inconsistent as far as accuracy goes out of the two guns I shot it through. After I burned up the two boxes, I never went back. YMMV.

For only $30 more, you can get 1000 rounds of Zero reloaded ammuntion in 230gr Ball. Quality components with quality results.

I think Outdoormarksman.com has better prices for their ammo. 500 rounds of .45ACP Miwall Reloads is $89.95 x2 you do the math, it's still cheaper.

Just my opinion though.

I've had an opposite experience...

"Zero Reloaded" (JHP 115gr) in my XD-9 = 3 FTE's in less than 400 rounds.

I switched to CCI/Blazer (FMJ 115gr) and haven't had any problems yet.

The Zero stuff, I had a FTE within the first 20 rounds, then later around the 300 mark (twice)

I've shot 2 boxes of Blazer, and so far no problems.

I just bought a few boxes of Blazer at Wal-Mart for $10.97. That made it about the cheapest I have seen anywhere.

Besides not getting stuck in the gun, have you noticed if it is dirtier that other rounds you've used or if the accuracy is inconsistant?

$5.99/box (9mm) here:

The only other stuff I've shot was Zero Factory Reloads. This stuff doesn't leave flecks of junk in the gun as much, and overall, I didn't notice that it was any more or less dirty. The spent casings looked the same. Accuracy wise, I shot better with the Blazer stuff than with Zero - actually had a 4" group at 10 yards, with 15 shots, though I still was low-left like I've been since day one. The XD is my first pistol, BTW, so when it comes to accuracy, I can't really comment - consistency, yeah, it seems good.

Awesome. Thanks. I'll be testing 150 rounds of Blazer this weekend.

Sorry for the double post.

Anyway, I shot 100 rounds of Blazer yesterday with only one hangup, and that was operator error. I'll go through about 200 more rounds tomorrow.
