What is "PMC" - from Remington???

I saw "PMC" bulk ammo at Bass Pro Shops, but can't find out any information about it. I don't recall the price, but it was cheaper than the UMC rounds. I knew what UMC stood for - Union Metallic Cartridge, and from what I read on Remingtons site, it sounds like better stuff... but their site had nothing about PMC. Is that a "store special" for certain retailers, kind of like Winchester White Box???
All the best,
Glenn

Thanks for the replies. I still don't know what it means, but "Pathetic Munitions Company" will probably stick with me until my dying day. . Thanks for the early morning laugh.

I've never been a fan of Remington ammunition either - I've had problems with it for both my .270 and my .22 rifles, all three of which are Remington firearms (700ADL, 552 Speedmaster, and a new 597). I've always liked Remington rifles, but never much cared for their ammunition. However, my new 20 gauge H&R Slug gun loves the Remington Premier Core-Lokt Ultra Bonded Sabot Slugs, so I figured I'd give their handgun ammo a try. But if it's crap like the rifle ammunition I've tried from them, I'll stick with Winchester. Thanks again for the reply.
All the best,
Glenn

I've shot the PMC stuff in my .22 mag alot with good success. I think it's along the lines of blazer brass and other inexpensive range ammo.

PMC= Precision Made Cartridges.

I should add that they have three different lines of ammo: Bronze, Silver, and Gold.

I think the Gold line is more commonly known as the "Starfire" brand.

This is taken from the PMC site. PMC originally started as the "Patton Morgan Corporation" in the 1970's and they imported S. Korean made ammo. Their original slogan was "Precision Made Cartridges" and it has stayed with them. Later. they changed their name to "Pan Metal Corporation" and bought facilities to produce ammo to supplement the S. Korean supply. They produce a variety of different ammo and have started importing firearms. I've never used any PMC (and from what I've read probably won't) so I can't comment on the quality.

As others have pointed oout, PMC is NOT the same as UMC and is NOT made by Remington. Their recent ammunition has proven to be of good quality, and certain loads are the most accurate "economy" factory ammo I have fired through a couple different handguns. Many Cowboy Action Shooters use the PMC cowboy ammo with good results. The PMC Starfire is an awesome bullet...it was designed by the same fella' who designed the HydraShok, and expands based on similar hydraulic principles. Try some of that bulk stuff and see if it works well in your gun. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Yes, I was gonna jump in and say the same thing - it is not Remington.

I used the stuff a lot in the 1990s. Itw as cheap. But, the ammo is dirty. Never had a problem with the stuff.

The company is deceased. They are no longer around. They sold out their stores in bulk at the very end. My local shop had some of that final buy out, but ran out recently. So, whatever U see if a few years old.

They claim it stands for Precision Made Cartridges, but it was originally Pan Metal Corporation
