Odd question about ammo....

i dont remember where i saw this video at..but it was a guy shooting an XD and every few rounds or so it looked like a paint ball round would splatter the target..what is this? and is it just a non lethal paint round or an actual projectile with some sort of tracer..im clueless on this..any thought??

What type of target were they shooting at? If it is a steel plate, then the splash is lead. Seen that many a time on a painted steel plate. Leaves a gray splash mark about the size of a quarter.

If it was a paper target, some of the shoot-n-see targets look like something is splattering. However those work by the bullet hitting the target, and a section of the black outer layer is pulled away larger than the bullet hole, which exposes a light colored under layer. So instead of a 9mm hole, you see a 9mm hole surrounded by a couple of millimeter fringe of a bright color.

HAHA! Maybe he was shooting at shoot-n-see targets and was only hitting the target once every few rounds.

seems like it was a red spatter..i know what your talking about with the black target rings then when you shoot it you see a flourescent green/yellow color around the hole..and it seems like the guy held up one of these things and it had a red cap on it ..actually it looked like a blank round lke youd see in the movies or something if i remember right..i wish i could find that find but i dont know where i saw it..i posted this at a few other forums maybe it will turn up

You have to have a special barrel and action kit for simunition rounds...maybe it was just a marker round
