I load Ranier 165 plated flat points with W231 4.4 gr on my Dillon 550
Excellent accuracy and soft shooting in an XD 40 Tactical with a 14# spring. 100% reliability.

I've been gone for 6 months but decided I'm going to shoot the IDPA classifier this weekend. So I loaded and setup my press at our new place and made 200 rounds. The recipe is a new one for me also but I figured I haven't shot really in months and definitely haven't shoot my own guns in over 6 months... so I wouldn't notice a difference. Recipe goes as follows:
Winchester brass Magtech Small Pistol/Revolver primers 4.1 grains of Winchester WST 180 grain TC LaserCast lead bullets We'll see how this shoots. I hear that WST and lead are a good combo. I will soon find out. Even though I haven't shot in a long a** time, or even had a chance to dryfire really, I still have high goals. Hopefully I can get video and post them/results.

I have had good results with the following:
In an XD40 Tac with solid guide rod and a 14# spring: W231 4.4gr Ranier 165 plated 800-850 fps

Anyone load remington golden sabers 40cal 165gr? what powder do you use? where can I find load data? WHere can I buiy the Golden sabers to reload???
also is there a difference in min and max overall length when loading cast lead bullets? (170gr FP) Thanks from a newbie! |

Rem. Golden Sabers...
Several places carry Rem. Golden Sabers. I purchased 165 gr. Golden Sabers from Midway USA. I haven't loaded them yet.
At the monent I am loading 165 gr. FP Plated from Berry's Bullets. .40 S&W Win. Brass 165 gr. FP Plated 5.4 gr. Unique CCI # 500 Small Pistol Primers 1.120 OAL avant Jour |

I wanted to check this section on the forum. I have been loading for about 6 months with a Dillon 550. I have a xd40 service, with the don's guide rod 22lb spring. I have been using Titegroup but have noticed some pressure spike's that really concern me. I have been looking at WST or WSF and wondered if anyone has any experince with any of these powders? Also what loads are using. I have been using the Bear Creek 180 gr moly coated bullet. Thanls for any replies.

Hey avant jour,
have you loaded up your 165 golden sabers yet? how are they working? on a side note: I just made up some 170gr fp lead win 231 4.0gr. Really accurate, soft recoil. I tried some at 4.6gr but the accuracy went out the window. tried some at 5.2gr and accuracy improved back to what it was at 4.0gr. Also at 5.2gr I noticed a lot of smoke with each shot. Not as pronounced as with the 4.0gr loads but still there to some degree. Someone said that it could possibly be the bullet lube as well. |

No I haven't loaded the Golden Sabers yet. When I do I'll post the results. I had 250 Berry's Bullets (165 gr. 5.4 Unique/ CCI # 500 SP) that I filled and took to the range. I was trying two "OAL" 1.135 and 1.120. I also used a taper crimp, and wanted to see if I had the correct setting. They both fired and cycled just fine. I will probably stick with the 1.120 OAL. avant jour |
