I loaded about 1000 rounds of conical lead bullet once you get the correct OAL you won't have any trouble. My son Htown shoots them out of his 9mm Service XD. I'll get the OAL, and published velocities, for you when I get home this afternoon. We're using 4grs of Red Dot, Bullseye, or Tite Group.
Going to be loading a couple of hundred this afternoon.

I don't reload, and am not interested in doing so in future. So is the brass worth more if sold to a scrap dealer, or if I auction it on eBay, or if I park with buckets of it outside an IPSC match, or what? And, for all of these alternatives, what's a fair price? If I sell it to shooters, will it increase the value if I deprime and clean and polish it first (some is a mite muddy, as I have an outdoor range), or do reloaders prefer to do that themselves?

I believe that Scrap Brass is worth about $1.75/lb. Check with the closest Scrap Dealer to find out a more exact price for your location.

Ok guys....
totally new to reloading, and I've read all the books, but I'm not sure what powder to fill my 9mm with. I was thinking 4 grains of tightgroup and seating a 115FMJ bullet. Does this sound reasonable?
What type of powders work best for 9mm? I looked into Tightgroup and HS-6. Tightgroup calls for 3.9grains, and HS-6 calls for over 7 grains for a starting load.
I'm heading up north tomorrow to buy my supplies so I'd love some input on what to get. Thanks in advance!!!

Some guys like uberfast powders because they are cheap to shoot. SOmething to consider though, ultrafast powders like TG & Clays, build their pressure very quickly. In a small case, like the 9mm, this can be a problem if pushing max. I like medium burners like Unique, Universal, AA#5 & WSF (HS6 is pushing into the slow range). These powders give you alittle safety factor in the small cases. Bullet setback, change of primer, slight overcharge, all can happen & w/ a medium powder, you are less likely to get into overload territory. To each his own though, just don't let cost ne your guide. The diff. between TG & WSF is like $2/1000rds.

I assumed that TG would be a faster burning powder since you only need 4grains to get to the same chamber pressures as the others. I think I'll see if they have any medium burning powders today and try a pound of that. If they have No.5 or Unique I'll get that. The No. 5 calls for about 6.3 grains for a 115gr FMJ, with an OAL of 1.095-1.100. That seems very reasonable.
fredj338....I really want to thank you again for all the help regarding the questions that I've had over the last few posts. I'm sure I'll be bugging you again for information that the books just don't provide.

Feel free to PM me w/ any questions. I've been doing this along time & still have all my fingers & both eyes. Even managed to win a few formal competitions along the way as well as filling the freezer from time to time.
