Solid Copper Bullet?
The environmentalists are at it again. And once again they are banging on the CA Condor drum.
There is a large movement here in CA to make all the hunters use solid copper bullets because of the "indirect lead poisoning problem in the Condors." I don't want to get into the political side of this, especially because my landowners are already asking their hunters to make the switch. Amazing what a couple of "wine and dine" or in this case "Woot and shoot" sessions by Fish & Game will do. But I digress... So who makes solid copper bullet ammunition for pistols? What cal.? Barnes (sp?) makes the expander bullet?

Does it have to be a solid copper bullet or simply a bullet that does not have lead in it?
Barns makes a solid copper bullet they also make a tungsten core copper jacketed bullet also. That should be a "green" bullet but give you a bit better performance than solid copper. In fact the tungsten core bullet will probably out perform lead core in both ballistic coefficient and penetration. You could also use cheap Russian military bullets a lot of them are soft steel or iron cores with a copper jacket. Not the best performance but should be "green". Rambling mcb |

Taurus makes one in .45 ACP, Cor-Bon is starting to make them, but the only hunting bullets i know of are Barnes and Mag Tech. Barnes has a good rep, but I'm not sure about the Mag Tech. Check it out. Maybe it'll be a little cheaper. Who knows.
