Best 9MM Self defense load for the XDSC?

I've always been partial to the 147 gr. Fed Hydra Shok.

Which round in your opinion will provide the most stopping power without over pennetration?

Please chime in.

Prefer the 125 +p from Corbon, or the Ranger 127 +p+. Too many horror stories about the 147 subsonic from years ago. Probably better now, but I Know these will do the job.

I am a big fan of the Ranger 127 +p+ and the 124 +p. They have never FTF, FTE in my guns and I trust them. No matter what you shoot...if you don't trust it 100% carry a baseball bat instead. My 2 cents.

I can tell you if you can find them and afford them, private ammo is pretty cool! I have a HP tracer round every third round and a incindeary for back up if needed! Dont know about reliability but the 30 or so I have shot for fun never had a problem!

I carry the 147 gr. Winchester Ranger and really like them.

I have had no problems of any type. The recoil is very reasonable.

Unless you are a seasoned shooter I wouldnt really bother with
+p ammo yet.

Any hollowpoint that feeds reliably...i.e. between 100-200 rounds with no problems of any type...the you can control is a good round for you.

I'm sure someone has the "FBI Approved" ammo list around here some where...do a search for it.

Anything on that list is a safe bet as long as it reliably feeds in your weapon.

Good luck!

1) reliable
2) what you can shoot accurately
3) what you practice with

I'm a firm believer in shot placement but it has to be reliable in YOUR gun not ours.

Whatever JHP from one of the major ammo makers works best (most reliable) in your gun that you can shoot good with. It is just a matter of personal prefernce. I prefer 125 gr JHP +P Speer Gold Dots or Winchester Ranger (Talons).

+1 for the 124g +P Speer Gold Dot. Might want to look into the one designed for shorter barrels; it has a wider HP cavity with deeper pre-cut grooves. I'll be trying out the .40 Cal version of it and posting impression here once I get my incoming 40SC.

i always tell people that is most inportant that works well with your weapon, and what you are comfortable with. rds that will function properly, as well as be accurate. i have a small number of black talons left but other than that I use hornaday xtp's in all my handguns, when i carried my glock 19, it was 147gr xtp's.

147 grain Rangers or Gold Dots (second choice) in every 9 I have.
