Medium velocity 357 for a SP-101

I have a 3in SP101 and I have tried to shoot full power loads out of it. Needless to say the flash and blast were unreal (and it HURT!!!) I was wondering if there is a medium velocity load that has more punch that a 38?

Put the Hogue grips on it. I shoot 158 grain .357's through my 2" SP101 and don't find it uncomfortable. The Hogues are $15 and make all the difference.

If you're concerned about it, get some .38 spl +p Gold dot hollow points. They kick like a mule in my airweight .38 but they're very tame in my Taurus 605 .357. Check out http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot27.htm for info on .38 rounds tested. Gold Dots expand well, which is something i was very concerned about with .38 rounds.

Speer makes a 357 Magnum 135 gr Short Barrel load that I use in my SP101. Recoil to me does not seem any more than 38 Special +P. Try some, I think you will like them. Much better than full power 357 Magnum.
