9 mm reloading advice...
I have just started reloading.
I have win 231 powder win sm pistol primers and 124 gr FMJ bullets. My Lyman book does not cover 124 gr FMJ only 130 gr FMJ. Can I use the same data. I suspect not. The winchester web site gives some loading data. But does not match the 124 gr FMJ with 231 Help please... |

You know I just searched all over the place for this powder and bullet combo and I can't find it anywhere. This is bugging the crap out of me because I use both of these as well. I am at a loss for why I can't seem to find it. I know I have used 124FMJ data but I am not going to say use it now. AT YOUR OWN RISK. The risk being that it just might not work or you may not be able to get good velocity out of it. Hopefully there will be more responses.

The load data you need is this. your start gr is 4.2 your do not exceed is 4.5 and your min. oal is 1.095 Your velocity is 1005-1060 fps and your pressure units are 32700 psi

I have used the following with Rainier 124 gn RN OAL 1.15
WIN 231 3.8 gn 920 FPS low PSI load no problems functiong WIN 231 4.3 gn 1040 FPS Standard PSI load These loads are about 10% below what would be specd as a FMJ load. Glenn's data looks good to me FWIW WIN WST has about the same or better performance but burns cleaner. I have been switching all of my 231 loads to WST.
